Advanced Technology for Cancer Patients in Sugar Land
We are constantly growing and making upgrades to bring patients in Sugar Land the best of the best! Read more about our advanced technologies.
Wide-Bore CT Simulator is the newest addition to our center’s technological upgrades. It replaces the previous CT simulator that had a smaller bore, thus limiting patient positioning, particularly for larger size patients. The wide-bore CT accommodates larger patients with ease, acquires the CT data rapidly to minimize motion artifacts and is located on campus for added convenience to our patients.
Image Guided Radiation Therapy (IGRT) uses a variety of planar and 3-dimensional (3D) imaging techniques throughout the course of radiation therapy to accurately identify, pinpoint, and monitor the tumor, for changes allowing us to adapt the treatment day to day with millimeter precision and accuracy.
Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT) acquired three-dimensional imaging using a conventional X-Ray system to generate a 3-D representation of the patient anatomy, immediately prior to treatment. By doing so, we are able to accurately visualize not only the skeletal anatomy, but the tumor as well, enabling us to deliver the radiation to its intended location with confidence.
Rapid Arc Volumetric Modulated Arc Therapy (VMAT) is a new form of image-guided, intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) which quickly delivers a complete IMRT treatment with a single rotation of the treatment machine around the patient. Rapid Arc allows very tight conformality of dose around the target tumor and has improved our ability to spare surrounding healthy tissue. Rapid Arc decreases treatment time by two thirds. Rapid Arc is a most welcome addition to our already superb state-of-the-art technology and Sugar Land Radiation Oncology is proud to be one of the only facilities in the area to offer it.
